I love daisies. Do you know why?
Well, let me tell you!
Daisies are a hearty flower. Cheerful and vigorous. They can grow almost anywhere and give life this random beauty. You can find them right along with dandelions and buttercups in your back yard or out on a hike in the woods. Like natures poetry. Simple and beautiful.
Anyway! Happy September!
Today marks 5 incredible years since I stepped out on that tight-rope and started this wonderful journey! Five years of Kim's Pet Service! 🤯
On September 1, 2021, I came home crying...again. Drowning in the land of working retail. Kyle, my husband told me to quit. No plan. No idea of what was ahead. Quit and find something else... not his exact words, but the gist. This man saw that I was overwhelmed with the hypocrisy and drama and let me have an out. I signed up for Rover that day... not expecting much. The next day I had leads on 3 gigs and a meet and greet set up. The day after that... I put in my two-week notice.
I worked from Rover for several months before getting off and going it alone.
Rover was the beginning... and I am ever so thankful for what it has turned into! What this adventure continues to be. I am so proud of how far I have come, even if I may have started a little backwards. I wouldn't change this journey for the world. I have learned so much in the last five years, and I continue to learn every day. I got my business certificate in 2024; I continue my education with seminars and courses. I hope to do some fundraising so I can go to the NAPPS conference in Nashville in February, I have a goal of going every 2-3 years. Networking with other pet professionals is so important to me and to us all as a community. Having those resources and sharing the knowledge we gain with each other and with all of you. That is why I started this blog to begin with. I did get a little sidetracked with life right after building this website. Go back and look at the accident blog... the aftermath of that and a bit of depression kind of defined the rest of 2025 and half this year. I am ready to renew my efforts. Not only for this blog, but creating a community. If I have learned one thing... it's that you can't do this life alone.
I have a gazillion ideas. Most in the infant brainstorm phase. So many ideas I want to come alive. That I'm excited to see come to fruition.
Some cost money... but hey, instead of trying to rent an office that I am in desperate need of... we are converting the back area of our trailer into my office. We're both making sacrifices to make this space work...so I have a space to work on our dreams! I am typing from my cozy little office desk right now. Have to say... it is better than the cold dark storage unit I was using. Besides, everything looks much more professional on my desktop computer.
Future... we'll get there.
My biggest dream is to create a sustainable farm rescue. I want to build a place for community. To be a staple in poeple's lives... a place for fun and a resource. We'll have a community garden, a rentable feild for those dogs that don't want to run with others, a forrest of trails (though this one is far fetched on my bucket list), and a barn for resucing kittens, senior dogs and small pets. Small mentions are... a flower feild for seasonal photos, a small shop run by youth to get experience with having a job...
That is my long term... plan for and slowly build up to dream.
A few dreams that might be able to come into being within the next few months/next spring....
I want to start a hiking group. I haven't thought out the logistics yet, but basically a fully planned and mapped hike. We meet, bring your (socially friendly) dog, and off we go! Another idea is to have a client bbq a few times a year. That one is just an idea not fleshed out in the slightest. Once summer fades, I will be working with a fellow dog walker to hopefully make this happen.
I want to join the local Chamber too and get out of my comfort zone.
Thank you...
Thank you doesn't seem to be enough. I couldn't have build this amazing business without those of you who took a chace and trusted me to love your pets. Your animals are a part of my heart now and forever. I am so grateful for the loyatly, compassion and support. We made it 5 years! Let's see where the next five take us! 🐾🥳
