Accidents happen.

And just like that, Summer 2025 has come to a close!

I wasn't expecting it to come with quite so much of a "bang"! But, hey... chaos seems to be a permanent fixture in everyone's lives lately, so why not?!

I am incredibly lucky. Just saying that sounds so caviler. The facts make it sound so trivial. My car flipped on the freeway two and a half weeks ago. I was cut off, swerved, was rearended, pushing me into the barrier and flipping my jeep on its side. I was stuck upside down for about 15 minutes while EMS arrived and got my car stabilized enough to pull me out. I was rushed to the hospital, but walked out a few hours later... I still can't believe I basically walked away from a car accident like that. Sure, I had bruises. I was sore as heck still, but I walked away. As I said... I am incredibly lucky!

And after a two weeks of living off tylenol, ibuprofen, arnica gel and ice packs, I can officially say... physically I am ok. Some soreness remains in my shoulder and in my leg, but by gosh, I walked away with minor injuries. My jeep was upside down! And I am ok. Physically. Mentally...well that is another story. And of course, the drama is just unfolding with the who did what and the how my jeep flipped.... lawyers will be involved, so that is all I should say about that.

One major thing that keeps flying across my brain is...what if this had happened while I was working? Well, I was technically. I did not have animals with me, but I was housesitting for a precious old man kitty. He receives medication 2 times a day and if everything had gone as planned, I would have been back in plenty of time, so a day trip wasn't an out of the realm adventure. But everything did not go as planned and Mr. Lester boy still needed his medication. So, from my ER hospital bed, I called his emergency contact.

This is why it is important to have those emergency contacts. It isn't always about an emergency with the animal in my care.

Business wise, I was already in the process of reevaluating rates, revising policies and updating client information. This accident has made me include several procedural additions and policy amendments that I would never have thought of prior. I'll be going digital too! All clients will get a pretty awesome postcard in the next few weeks while I work on getting the details worked out!

So! Onto the fun news!

I guess it's actually a mixed bag of news, but mostly good! I love to do vendor events! Which is crazy because of my insane social anxiety. I truly love to get out there and chat with you all about animals! I was supposed to participate in one this weekend, but due to the accident I didn't feel like I would have been ready... I have been doing the Skagit Fairgrounds Fall and Spring garage sales for the last nearly four years. But! I'll be back in the Spring!

Turns out really good I backed out when I did though, because my new used car we bought is in the shop, so I honestly couldn't have even made it to the fairgrounds...

Anyway!

Instead! I'll be doing a holiday market in November! I signed up for the Mount Vernon High School holiday market. Follow @kimspetservice.skagit on Facebook for details! I'm excited to show off my new displays and the treat machines and amazing new signs!
